Indulge in the simplicity of perfectly cooked sunny-side-up eggs, gently fried in butter until the whites are delicately set and the yolks remain gloriously runny. This easy-to-follow recipe guides you through the process step by step, ensuring a satisfying morning meal in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 3 large eggs

  • Pinch of kosher salt

  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  • Melt the Butter: In a small nonstick frying pan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Tilt the pan to coat the bottom evenly with the butter.
  • Add and Season Eggs: Crack 3 large eggs into the pan and season them with a pinch of kosher salt.
  • Cook Until Whites Set: Allow the eggs to cook without disturbing them until the whites are almost fully set and opaque, except for a small 1/2-inch area around the yolks, for about 2 minutes.
  • Carefully Flip: If needed, use a spatula to separate the eggs gently. Slide the spatula under one egg, ensuring it’s centered beneath the yolk. Carefully flip the egg and repeat with the second egg.
  • Season and Final Cooking: Season the eggs with a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Continue cooking until the whites are completely set, approximately 30 seconds more.
  • Plate and Serve: Once done, gently slide the cooked eggs onto a plate and serve immediately.
